Nothing connected with the Passion and Death of Christ was purely accidental. And although Our Saviour was unquestionably the central figure of Calvary, many other persons - by God's Providence - took part in the living drama of the first Good Friday. These persons too provide instruction for our own lives.

Father Christopher Rengers, O.F.M. Cap., was born in 1917 at Pittsburgh. In 1936 he became a Capuchin novitiate in Maryland, and finished professing his vows four years later. He was ordained in Washington, D.C. in 1942, and taught four years at St. Joseph College in Kansas before spending fifty years on various assignments through parish work. He is the author of The Youngest ProphetMary of the AmericasWords from the Cross, and They Played in Calvary s Drama. His work has also appeared in magazines such as SoulPriest, and Pastoral Life.

Father Rengers was very interested in the doctors of the Church, and admitted that writing on them made a big impact on his life. His recent activities include hearing confessions at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and doing ministry work in nursing homes.
